A real person reads these. Replies usually take a few days rather than a few minutes.

If a number looks wrong

This is the message we most want to receive. If a figure here disagrees with your lender, your statement or an official worked example, please tell us — it is the most useful thing anyone sends us, and we would rather hear it from you than not hear it at all.

To let us reproduce it quickly, include whatever you can of:

• the link from your address bar — it carries the figures you entered, and never the names you gave them, so it is safe to send;
• the figure you expected, and where it came from;
• your browser and device, if the problem looks like a display issue.

Corrections are made openly. When we change a calculation, the change and its date are recorded on the affected page.

Bugs and code

The source is public. Technical issues are often best raised on the issue tracker, where the discussion is visible to everyone and the fix can be tracked.

Embedding a calculator

If you write about personal finance and want to embed one of these tools on your own page, get in touch — we are happy to help and it costs nothing.

What we cannot help with

We cannot advise on your personal financial situation, recommend a product or lender, or tell you what to do about a debt. Nobody here is qualified to, and answering anyway would be worse than declining. See about for where that line sits and why.

Why there is no form

A contact form has to post somewhere. That means either a server — which this site deliberately does not have — or a third-party embed that would load tracking scripts onto pages whose whole claim is that they load none. An email address is less fashionable and more honest.
